The UN said that at least nine out of 10 Palestinians in the Gaza enclave have experienced displacement at least once since the outbreak of war in October 7.
“At the moment, we estimated that nine out of every 10 people in the Gaza Strip had been internally displaced at least once, if not up to 10 times, unfortunately, since October,” said Andrea De Domenico, head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Late Wednesday, Andrea added in a press conference that Israel’s offensive had sparked an unprecedented forced displacement, the latest took place in Khan Younis after Israeli military dropped evacuation orders in the eastern areas.
The United Nations estimated that up to 250,000 people are impacted by the Israeli military order for civilians to leave Al-Qarara, Bani Suhaila and other localities near the territory of 2.4 million’s second city of Khan Younis.
The UN humanitarian coordinator for Gaza said that 80% of the population, 1.9 million people, were now displaced.
