DaysofPal- Three Palestinians were killed and at least seven others wounded in Israeli attacks across several areas of the Gaza Strip, marking a new breach of a fragile ceasefire agreement.
The latest strikes targeted multiple locations from the north to the south of the besieged enclave, underscoring the continued volatility on the ground.
The attacks overnight and into Sunday struck Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the Zeitoun neighbourhood southeast of Gaza City, and other residential areas.
In one incident, an Israeli quadcopter targeted a Palestinian man while he was being transported to a hospital in Khan Younis, killing him before he could receive medical care. Two other Palestinians were shot dead east of the Zeitoun area amid intensified gunfire.
Artillery shelling and gunfire from military vehicles were also reported in eastern Gaza City neighbourhoods, including Tuffah and Zeitoun, while air strikes hit eastern sections of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, as well as Jabalia and Beit Lahia in the north.
Along the coast, naval bombardment targeted northern shoreline areas.
On the ground, residents described a sharp escalation marked by the constant presence of drones overhead and ongoing demolitions beyond the so-called “yellow line” that was meant to define ceasefire boundaries.
Entire blocks of already evacuated civilian areas have been flattened, particularly in Rafah, eastern Khan Younis and the Jabalia refugee camp. These actions have raised growing concerns that the operations are aimed less at immediate security and more at expanding areas under military control ahead of future negotiations.
The Israeli army separately announced that it had killed three Palestinians in northern and southern Gaza, alleging they posed a threat to its forces. It remains unclear whether these claims correspond to the same incidents reported by medical and local sources inside the Strip.
As violence continues, Gaza’s humanitarian situation is deteriorating further. On Saturday, a seven-day-old infant, Mahmoud al-Aqraa, died from extreme cold in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza. His death comes amid plunging nighttime temperatures and an ongoing blockade that severely restricts the entry of basic necessities.
Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians remain trapped in makeshift tents offering little protection from strong winds and rain. Most shelters are constructed from thin canvas and plastic sheets, while the entry of mobile homes, tents, and materials needed for repairs remains heavily restricted, despite ceasefire commitments and international legal obligations.
With nighttime temperatures dropping to around 9 degrees Celsius, Gaza’s Civil Defence has warned of an impending catastrophe. A recent low-pressure system has already destroyed thousands of temporary shelters, leaving families exposed to harsh winter conditions.
Officials stressed that the crisis is not merely the result of bad weather, but a direct consequence of preventing reconstruction and blocking essential supplies.
According to United Nations estimates, nearly 80 percent of buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged over more than two years of war, leaving vast swathes of the population without safe housing and pushing the territory deeper into a prolonged humanitarian disaster.
