Some 1000 Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails will start a massive hunger strike in protest of the Israeli prison administration’s violations against the Palestinian detainees, stated the Palestinian Prisoners Club on Thursday,17 August 2023.
In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoners Club said that Palestinian detainees will launch a hunger strike in protest of the Israeli prison administration’s violations the latest of which is a series of raids into Palestinian detainees’ cells.
Earlier today, Israeli repression forces invaded sections 3 and 4 in the Israeli jail of Negev, brutally assaulted the Palestinian detainees, and arbitrarily transferred some of them, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club.
The latest Israeli escalation coincided with the visit of the far-right Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir who continues to threaten the Palestinian prisoners and deprive them of their fundamental human rights, the club added.
Since assuming his position, Ben Gvir issued a series of punitive measures against the Palestinian detainees including preventing the early release of administrative prisoners, closing the bakery in the Israeli jails, reducing the use of bathrooms and water to a minimum, and canceling dental treatments.
