DayofPal—Newly formed National Palestinian Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip announced on Friday the official launch of the committee’s work from the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The Head of the Committee Dr Ali Shaath said in a press statement that the committee’s top priority is the urgent delivery of 200,000 prefabricated housing units to Gaza as a replacement for tents, as winter storms still raging across the enclave.
He explained that the units will be installed within integrated residential complexes that include health, education and security facilities.
Shaath noted that the committee, composed of 15 professional officials, was formed following consensus among Palestinian factions during recent Cairo meetings.
He added that the committee was established with direct US backing, citing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and former US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
He stressed that the committee will work transparently to oversee reconstruction efforts, distribute humanitarian aid, provide care for women and children, address war-related trauma, and help pave the way toward Palestinian political unity and the establishment of an independent state.
Palestinian factions issued final statement following the Cairo talks expressing full support for the “transitional committee,” while calling on mediators to pressure Israel to fully withdraw from Gaza.
The statement also underscored the need to confront annexation plans in the occupied West Bank and the Judaization of Jerusalem.
