A large number of Israeli setters with weapons erected multiple tents today on the land owned by Palestinians in the Kharbit Shehada area next to the Deir Istia town in the Western part of Salfit, a city under Israeli occupation in the West Bank.
Local activists suggested that it looks as if they are in the process of stealing the land.
Nazmi Salman, a community campaigner, said that a substantial number of Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Hfat Y`aer, erecting tents on Deir Istia land, are jockeying to annex the territory in order to boost their colonies.
This action is meant to connect illegal settlements built on the Palestinian villages of Deir Istia and Qarawat Bani Hasan, while also blocking off any routes of travel between the two settlements.
Kharbit Shehada, covering 3000 dunums, has been consistently subjected to assaults by Israeli settlers intending to secure it in order to expand the illegal settlement known as Hfat Y`aer, according to Salman.
Abdullah Kamil, the governor of Salfit, said that the policy sought to expropriate as much of the people in Salfit’s land as possible with very weak justifications.
