The aftermath of the operation in Tal Aviv ricochets and like in a vacant room, the echo comes back louder. more grant with sounds of self-righteous politicians, diplomats, envoys–to name a few congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Blinken, and Liz truss, UK government official among many– acing to condemn, “the heinous act.”
The metaphorical pot calls the kettle black
One can’t but marvel at the duel treatment Palestinians face. The systematic double standard that Palestinians are handled with is such a treatment they have been accustomed to seeing: The world being reluctant to admit flagrant injustices Israel apartheid forces pose on Palestinians for days on end under pretenses of the topic issues being too complicated or calling for a kiss-and-make up fix when Israel is the plaintive but quick and alert to show support on the few occasions when the roles are reversed.
Calling out a spade a spade has never been something the international community is fluent in as the Palestinians almost never got extended the same favor.
Background and statistics
Only a week ago the IOF raided the city of Jenin and shot three Palestinians. This comes as one of many examples of Israeli oppression of the Palestinian territories making it in total, Israeli forces carried out 95 such operations and arrested 143 Palestinians, including twelve children.
222 Palestinians, including 37 children, were injured by Israeli forces across the West Bank, According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
And while the operation on Thursday shouldn’t be encouraged, the international community giving Israel the green light to perform group-scale punishment on Palestinian civilians shouldn’t either.
Collective Punishment policy
Today April 9th, 2022 the Israeli occupation forces raided the freedom fighter’s hometown of Jenin, killing Ahmad Alsaadi and wounding 15 others as the IOF interned the camp in an attempt to arrest Fahi Hazen, Raad’s father. Officials from the Prime Minister’s Office have reportedly asked the US to pressure the Palestinian Authority and its leader Mahmoud Abbas to cut payments to the father of the terrorist who carried out Thursday’s attack in Tel Aviv.
As a punitive measure systematically done by the IOF to stop any possible attempts for Palestinians to take matters into their own hands. Arresting members of the family and demolishing the family’s house. This kind of collective punishment should not be issued under any circumstance and any kind of rationalization to it cannot make it rightful.
An ex-Israeli soldier posted on his Facebook account:
Further highlights that this operation and others are merely a desperate attempt for the Palestinian people to re-attain their freedom, dignity, and land. Palestinians are under ethnic cleansing, segregation, checkpoint searches, and unlawful seizures.
The operation in Jenin is only a normal outcome of the unnormal and oppressive circumstances.
