DayofPal—A new report by the European Legal Support Centre (ELSC) has documented 964 verified incidents of anti-Palestinian repression across Britain between January 2019 and August 2025.
The findings are published in Britain’s Index of Repression, a searchable national database developed in collaboration with Forensic Architecture and launched at London’s Frontline Club.
According to the report, incidents include arrests, job dismissals, suspensions and event cancellations, with a sharp rise recorded after October 2023.
Police and security personnel were involved in 220 cases, while universities and schools accounted for 192. Pro-Israel advocacy groups were linked to 141 incidents, and journalists or media actors to 113.
Students, academics and teachers were the most frequently targeted group, followed by activists and organizers.
The report outlines a recurring pattern beginning with smear campaigns or allegations, often invoking antisemitism or terrorism, followed by institutional threats and, in some cases, disciplinary action or arrests.
The study highlights the use of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism and provisions under the Terrorism Act 2000 as key mechanisms cited in actions against Palestine solidarity activists.
It also names UK Lawyers for Israel as being involved in 128 cases linked to institutional repression.
ELSC researchers say the database is the first public resource of its kind in Britain and is intended to track patterns of repression and support affected individuals.
