DaysofPal- Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that mediators are intensifying efforts to move toward the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, amid mounting political and humanitarian challenges.
Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, stated that Doha is working closely with other mediators to advance implementation of the next phase of the agreement, noting that current complexities require progress rather than delay.
Al-Ansari stressed that the Gaza ceasefire agreement should not be linked to the opening of the Rafah crossing or the entry of humanitarian aid under conditional arrangements.
He emphasized that humanitarian assistance must be allowed into Gaza without restrictions.
Addressing the worsening humanitarian situation, Al-Ansari described the crisis in Gaza as a “man-made humanitarian catastrophe,” warning that each day without aid deliveries results in more civilian casualties.
He added that no fixed timelines have been set for the implementation of the agreement’s next stages, but confirmed that Qatari contacts with relevant parties are ongoing and conducted on a daily basis to push the deal forward.
Al-Ansari questioned the delays in implementing the agreement, calling on Israel to clarify the reasons behind the slowdown.
The second phase of the ceasefire plan, proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, includes the formation of a temporary technocratic committee to administer Gaza, the launch of reconstruction efforts, the establishment of a peace council, the deployment of an international force, and a further withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the enclave.
Hamas, for its part, has stated that the Israeli government is attempting to obstruct the transition to the second phase by escalating its military actions in Gaza and failing to comply with commitments outlined in the first phase of the agreement.
