The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated Tuesday, July 18, 2023, that the Israeli occupation prison administration continues to violate Palestinian sick prisoners medically, following deliberate medical negligence policy.
The Commission monitored, following the visit of its lawyer, Moataz Shuqairat, to Israeli “Ramon” prison, two sick cases, one of which was the case of Palestinian prisoner Thaer Dawwas from Jericho governorate, as he suffers severe pain in the chest, high heart rate, shortness of breath and difficulty in inhaling and exhaling.
Upon his visit to the prison clinic, a physical examination was performed without providing him with any required treatment or referring him to a specialist for examination, as painkillers are the only thing provided.
It is noteworthy that Dawwas is a former prisoner who was detained several times. He is married and has 5 children.
As for the case of prisoner Hussein Attia, he suffers from inflammation of the hair “alopecia”, and his hair continues to fall out. Attia has been given medications without any improvement, noting that he was not examined by a dermatologist.
Israeli occupation authorities currently hold some 4900 Palestinians in prisons, including 160 children and 31 women.
