The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies (PCPS) stated Saturday, May 20, 2023, that the number of senior Palestinian detainees has risen to 408 after 7 Palestinian detainees have completed their 20th year in Israeli occupation prisons today.
Reyad Al-Ashqar, director of Palestine Center, said that the seven Palestinian detainees who joined the list of senior detainees are Nour Jaber, Iyad Jaradat, Anas Jaradat, Mohammad Jaradat, Musa Sarayeh, Imad Abu Ajameh, and Moayad Issa, raising their number to 408.
The number of senior Palestinian detainees, who have completed more 20 years inside Israeli occupation prisons, has been noticeably increasing due to the large number of life-imprisonment-sentenced Palestinian detainees, PCPS indicated.
It reported that three senior detainees have been killed in the last 4 years by the Israeli policy of medical negligence, which deteriorated their health status for years. The Israeli occupation still retains their bodies.
According to the centre, more than 19 Palestinians have spent more than 30 years, and 41 others have completed a quarter century (25 years) in Israeli prisons.
PCPS called on the international community and human rights organizations to urgently interfere and put pressure on the Israeli occupation to release the senior Palestinian detainees, especially the sick detainees who suffer critical health conditions.
