Activists in the Bethlehem governorate organized a solidarity stance in support of the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, in rejection of his repeated and continuous arrest by the Israeli occupation authorities.
The participants denounced the arrest of the governor, the policy of abuse and humiliation against Jerusalemites, and the arbitrary Israeli practices against the Palestinian people.
Bethlehem Governor Kamel Hamid said, On the need to protect the Palestinian people and their Palestinian sovereignty on their land, and Adnan Ghaith, the governor of Jerusalem, represents a symbol of Palestinian legitimacy, and that the repeated attack on him and his arrest under flimsy pretexts will not affect his resolve and will not discourage the Palestinian people from their right to exercise their sovereignty and legitimacy in Jerusalem, the capital.
The coordinator of the national action factions in Bethlehem, Muhammad al-Jaafari, also stressed that” the Palestinian people adhere to their legitimate right to the sovereignty of their land through their Palestinian national leadership, and that the Israeli occupation’s hurtful measures will only increase the Palestinian people’s strength and solidity, and that the occupation and all imperialist forces will come to an end, no matter how long or short.”
In the city of Tulkarm, a solidarity stand was organized in front of the governorate building, with the participation of Tulkarm Governor Issam Abu Bakr, the Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Tulkarm Iyad Jarad, the faction coordinator Faisal Salameh, representatives of the factions, directors of official and civil institutions, the executive and advisory councils, and the mayor of Tulkarm, Dr. Riad Awad, President of the Chamber of Commerce Ibrahim Abu Haseeb, and mayors of municipalities, local councils, and all components.
Abu Bakr stressed that “the activities of the governorate and all components and this crowd came to express their continuous solidarity with the Governor of Jerusalem Adnan Ghaith and with our people in occupied Jerusalem who made sacrifices, merciful for the souls of the martyrs of our people everywhere, and saluting our heroic prisoners in the occupation prisons, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.”
In the city of Qalqilya, too, a solidarity stand was organized in front of the governorate house, to reject the measures and decisions of the Israeli occupation against Adnan Ghaith, the governor of Jerusalem governorate.
The stand included the participation of Major General Rafea Rajbeh, Governor of Qalqilya Governorate, his deputy, Major General Hossam Abu Hamda, Secretary of Fatah Movement Mahmoud Waweel, and members of the region, member of the Revolutionary Council, Bayan Tabib, Tariq Shawar, head of the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of official and popular institutions, and representatives of local bodies.
The governor affirmed, “This stand rejected all the (Israeli) occupation policies that are being committed against Governor Adnan Ghaith, and Adnan Ghaith is stronger than the occupation and its plans.”
This comes after the Israeli occupation court extended the detention of Governor Adnan Ghaith to Thursday for the third time in a row since his arrest.
