Days of Palestine – Gaza
The Palestinian survivor of the 2014 Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Asma Abu Tair, has achieved success in the field of fashion design and tailoring, despite her severe suffering.
Abu Tair, 34 years old, married, and has two daughters and two sons, was directly targeted by the Israeli occupation warplanes in 2014, which led to her being seriously injured.
In an interview with Quds News Network, Asmaa said that her injury ruptured her arteries and tendons, which led to the amputation of her leg.
Abu Tair added, that she left the Gaza Strip after the end of the Israeli aggression to Jordan for a treatment trip that lasted for 11 months, then returned to the Gaza Strip to spend 3 years in physical and physiotherapy at the Prosthetics Center.
Due to the living conditions and extreme poverty, Abu Tair overcame the suffering due to her injury and worked making cakes. She said that I went to work in the talent that I love, and I made cake and sold it for 3 years.
After that, Asmaa suffered a health setback that led to psychological and health treatment for a year.
Asmaa said that she was given the chance of her life by the Palestinian Ministry of Labor and the Erada Center for Training, Development, and Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities, who offered her a temporary job and training opportunity for 9 months.
During that period, Abu Tair learned to design and tailor fashion, and because of her passion and defiance of her difficult health conditions, she got first place at the time.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Labor and Erada Center granted her a small project, in which it tailors, designs, and sells costumes.
Abu Tair says that she will continue to learn and develop in this field, which gave her the ability to bear the difficulty of life due to the obstruction caused by the Israeli occupation warplanes during the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip in 2014.
The 2014 Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip has had enduring consequences for the Strip’s two million inhabitants. Over 2,250 Palestinians were killed, 500 of whom were children, and 11,000 were wounded.
