The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs has held the Israeli occupation’s prison administration fully responsible for the life of the prisoner Mahmoud Abu Zarei from Dura, who was urgently transferred from the Ramon prison to Soroka Hospital today, Sunday, October 1, 2023.
In a statement, the Commission explained that the transfer of prisoner Abu Zarei came after he vomited blood intensively, noting that this condition had recurred several times in the past few days, and the prison administration did not seriously address his condition, leading to its deterioration.
The prisoner Abu Zarei, 55, has been detained for 21 years and is sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to Palestinian sources, since 1967 when Israel occupied East Jerusalem and West Bank, 236 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli prisons. Of them, 75 have died as a result of medical negligence.
