Shuaa Jalal Naif, a Palestinian prisoner hailing from Jenin, entered on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, his 21st year behind bars in Israeli occupation prisons. Kammaji has become a symbol of resilience and determination, defying the challenges of imprisonment to achieve remarkable accomplishments.
Mr. Montaser Sammour, the director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club in Jenin, spoke of Kammaji’s extraordinary journey. Imprisoned since 2003, Kammaji was sentenced to a 25-year term by Israeli occupation authorities. Despite the harsh conditions of confinement, he managed to not only persevere but thrive.
Sammour revealed that Kammaji successfully completed his university education while incarcerated, earning a bachelor’s degree in history. Additionally, he memorized the entire Quran, a feat that requires immense dedication and discipline. Even more impressively, Kammaji authored a book titled “Questions and Answers in the Beliefs of the Beloved,” showcasing his intellectual pursuits even within the confines of his prison cell.
Highlighting the cruel impact of his imprisonment on Kammaji’s family, Sammour disclosed that the prisoner’s mother and brother, Diaa, passed away while he was in captivity. The Israeli occupation denied him the chance to bid a final farewell to his loved ones.
