Days of Palestine – Jenin
Doud Zubeidi, a Palestinian from Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, was announced dead Sunday of injuries he sustained last Friday during an Israeli raid on the camp, medical sources have said.
Local sources said that Dauod, who was evacuated to the Rambam Medical Center in the occupied city of Haifa following a deterioration in his condition after being shot with an Israeli live bullet to his abdomen on Friday, succumbed to his injuries today.
Zubeidi’s family said yesterday they were informed by Israeli occupation authorities that their son was under Israeli custody despite his critical health condition.
He was moved to Rambam Hospital in Haifa on Friday after a critical deterioration in his health condition resulting from the gunfire injury.
Zubeidi is the brother of Zakaria Zubeidi, one of six Palestinian freedom fighters who tunneled out of Israel’s high-security prison on Gilboa in September 2021. The six were recaptured a few days later by the Israeli occupation forces.
Daoud was reportedly among 13 Palestinians injured Friday by Israeli forces near and in the city of Jenin.
That day, the Israeli forces surrounded a Palestinian house in Jenin’s refugee camp and targeted it with a short-range missile in an attempt to arrest two Palestinian freedom fighters inside.
This ended with Israeli forces arresting the two young brothers, identified as Mahmoud and Anas al-Dabai.
Footage shared by residents, and confirmed by sources, showed Israeli forces firing the short-range Energa anti-tank rifle grenade at their house, setting it ablaze when the missile struck the upper section of the building.
A watchdog initially thought to be wearing a military vest and sent into the house by Israeli forces, was seen to be on fire. It was later confirmed that it was a pet dog that belonged to the family. It died in the fire.
The Israeli occupation raid came only two days after an Israeli sniper shot and killed Al Jazeera’s reporter Shereen Abu Aqleh while she was covering an Israeli military raid into the Jenin refugee camp despite wearing a press vest.
