The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, that 14 Palestinian detainees held in the “Hawara” detention facility are enduring extremely harsh living conditions.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, following a visit by their lawyer Anan Khader to the facility, the Commission revealed that the “Hawara” detention center lacks the most basic human living conditions.
Moreover, the facility’s management has not provided hot water for bathing for over two weeks, and there is also an insufficient supply of blankets for the detainees.
The Commission has called upon human rights and legal organizations, with the International Red Cross at the forefront, to urgently conduct a visit to assess the health and inhumane conditions that the prisoners are subjected to inside the detention center.
They also demand that the Israeli occupation be held accountable for the violations committed against them.
The Israeli occupation detains thousands of Palestinian prisoners in 23 prisons, detention, and interrogation centers, including over 1200 administrative detainees, 34 female prisoners, and 170 minors, in addition to 700 sick prisoners.
