DaysofPal- Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip have provided chilling testimonies, revealing details of the severe Israeli violations they endured during detention and after being transferred to prisons.
These statements, gathered by prisoner organizations, shed light on the ongoing abuse faced by detainees in Israeli custody.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) shared on Wednesday that these testimonies are part of a series of statements obtained after visits to detainees over the past period. PPS revealed that 18 detainees were recently visited in Negev Prison and Sde Teiman Detention Camp. One detainee, who suffered fractures in both arms, reported being brutally abused while restrained.
The testimonies convey a grim picture of torture, deprivation, humiliation, and starvation that Gaza detainees have been subjected to since their arrest. Many detainees, particularly those captured over a year ago, remain unaware of the fate of their families, compounding their distress.
Earlier, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention called for an immediate and impartial investigation into the deaths of detainees in Israeli prisons, urging accountability and redress for victims.
