Palestinian factions, alongside the Palestinian Legislative Council, expressed their deepest condolences to Morocco and its ‘brotherly people’ for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the Al-Haouz region, southwest of the Moroccan capital, Marrakech, leading to hundreds of casualties and injuries.
In a statement on Saturday, September 9, 2023, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to Morocco’s King, government, and people over a tragic earthquake that struck several parts of the kingdom, killing hundreds of people.

“Hamas prays that Allah shower the victims with His mercy and grant the wounded fast recovery, wishing a safe return for the missing people,” the statement read.
It added that the Palestinian resistance movement expresses full solidarity with Morocco over such a tragic plight, praying to Allah to keep the republic from all harm.
In addition, the Palestinian Legislative Council conveyed deep condolences to Morocco for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck several Moroccan cities.
In a statement, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, Acting President of the Legislative Council, expressed full solidarity with the Moroccan people and their bereaved families, wishing the victims divine mercy, patience to their families, swift recovery for the injured, safety for the missing, and protection for Morocco.
Additionally, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the earthquake victims, urging the Arab League to provide assistance and support to the affected areas.
The PFLP said it stands in solidarity with the “brotherly Moroccan people in the face of the devastating earthquake’s aftermath.”
“The Popular Front also calls on the Moroccan people to reject any aid from the Israeli entity, which seeks to exploit this humanitarian catastrophe to further normalization efforts, in contrast to the Moroccan people’s rejection of all forms of normalization and relations with it,” PFLP statement added.
On Friday evening, a powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 struck Morocco, resulting in a tragic loss of at least 296 lives, leaving over 150 individuals injured, causing extensive structural damage, and forcing local residents to seek refuge in the streets for safety.
