Five people have died of coronavirus in Palestine in the last 24 hours, 730 new cases were recorded, and 506 have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila in her daily coronavirus report.

She said six of the deaths were recorded in the West Bank, the youngest was 38 years old, two in Jenin,  three in Tulkarem and the sixth in the Gaza Strip.

Of the new cases, 456 were in the West Bank, most of them in the Hebron district where 46 new cases were recorded, followed by 152 in Nablus, 43 in the Ramallah district, 57 in Bethlehem, 19 in Qalqilia, 10 in Jericho, 46 in Salfit, 5 in Tubas, 13 in Jeruslaem and 274 in Gaza Strip.

The Minister said 251 patients have recovered in the West Bank, 255 in the Gaza Strip.

Recovered cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in March have reached 88.1%, while active cases stood at 10.9 percent and 0.8% have died.

Alkaila said 40 patients remain in intensive care units in hospitals, including 11 who are on respirators.

Gaza registered 274 new infections from the coronavirus in the besieged Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, reported the heath ministry in Gaza on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said the territory’s virus count rose to 72967 confirmed cases, including 43 deaths, and 64431 recoveries. The number of active cases has reached 3052.

The ministry called on residents to pursue social distancing to help stem the spread of the virus.
