Days Of Palestine
The Association of Human Rights Organizations sent a letter to the new members of the UN Security Council who were elected by the UN General Assembly for non-permanent membership on June 7, starting in January and lasting for two years.
The Assembly congratulated the representatives of Tunisia, Niger, Vietnam, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Estonia as members of the UN Security Council. The assembly expressed also its confidence in the ability of their voices to make a difference in the international involvement and support for the Palestinian cause.
In the detailed letters, the assembly reviewed the members' actions towards the Palestinian issue through history, praising their support for the Palestinian right to freedom, self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. They stressed that the main reason behind the Palestinians' suffering is the continuous Israeli occupation of their land, and its failure to implement the resolutions of the United Nations.
