Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Friday talked over the phone with Tunisian president Baji Kayed Sibsi and briefed him on the challenges facing the Palestinian cause.

In a statement released by his office, Haneyya congratulated Sibsi on chairing the Arab Summit and applauded his position on the Palestinian cause during his speech.

The Hamas official expressed hope that Tunisia could play a major role in supporting the Palestinian cause and healing the rift in the Palestinian arena.

For his part, president Sibsi affirmed his country’s unwavering supportive position towards the Palestinian cause and hailed the Palestinian people’s struggle for their rights.
