Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli occupation stormed on Sunday morning Al-Aqsa Mosque, assaulted worshipers and damaged the main prayer place.
Prior to storming the Mosque, the Israeli occupation army and police prevented all Palestinian men under 50 years and women of all ages from entering into the Mosque. They also banned students of the Sharia Schools from entering into the Mosque.
Droves of the extremist Israeli Jewish settlers, including the Israeli Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel desecrated the Mosque and toured around it, escorted by a large number of the Israeli occupation army.
Tens of Palestinian worshipers were inside Al-Aqsa Mosque attempted to prevent the desecration of the Israeli Jewish settlers, but the Israeli occupation army and police undermined their attempt and attacked them.
Witnesses from inside the Mosque told Days of Palestine that the Israeli occupation army and police blocked them inside the main prayer place and started a massive attack against them.
According to the witnesses, the Israeli occupation army and police fired tear gas canisters and iron-coated-with-metal bullets at them inside the prayer yard and broke its doors and windows and damaged the furniture inside.
Israeli Police Spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said that the Israeli occupation forces entered Al-Aqsa Mosque at 6:30 am to deal with “disturbances” inside, claiming that “Palestinians threw fire and fireworks” at the forces, who then closed off the main gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The reported “disturbances” occurred after enabling the extremist Israeli settlers from entering into the holy site of the Muslims.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest place on earth for more than 2bn Muslims around the world. Following Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, the Israeli occupation state has maintained an agreement with the Islamic trust that controls the Mosque not to allow non-Muslim prayer inside.
However, Israeli forces have regularly escorted extremist Israeli Jewish settlers to perform mythical Talmudic rituals inside the Mosque, leading to anger among Muslim worshipers.
Israeli government has been trying to divide the Mosque between the Muslim worshipers and the Israeli Jewish settlers based on time and place, but a number of the Palestinian factions, including Hamas have been refusing this insisting that this place is a fully Islamic site.
