Days of Palestine, Brussels –EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini condemned on Wednesday Israeli ignorance for EU, international bodies and international law.
Mogherini also condemned the construction of 500 new settlement units in the occupied East Jerusalem’s illegal settlement of Ramat Shlomo.
In a statement, she said that the construction in Ramat Schlomo “jeopardising on-going efforts to resume a diplomatic process.”
She added: “This decision [to construct settlements] represents yet another highly detrimental step, which undermines the prospects for a two-state solution and seriously calls into question Israeli commitment to a peaceful negotiated settlement with the Palestinians.”
Mogherini said that the EU is giving attention to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, but Israeli settlement which undermines the political process, affects reconstruction efforts.
“Pleas by the EU and other members of the international community to end the construction of settlements have remained ignored,” said Mogherini.
