Days of Palestine, West Bank –Palestinian Authority (PA) security services have arrested recently more than 250 Palestinians to prevent new intifada.
Most of the arrests carried out against Palestinian civilians affiliated to the Palestinian Islamist movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Palestinian security officials affirmed that more than 250 members Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been arrested over the recent weeks in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
The officials said that the arrest campaign, which has been going on since the end of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on August 26, is being carried out based on security cooperation with the Israeli occupation intelligence services.
According to the PA security officials, Hamas is the prime responsible for attempts to instigate “violence” in the PA territories. “So we are working to abort any plans might lead to violence,” the officials told Days of Palestine.
No more protests
In the PA territories, the fight against the Islamists and the popular activities expected to be planned by factions is led by two of prominent PA intelligence bodies: General Intelligence under Majed Faraj and Palestinian Preventive Security under Ziad Habalreeh.
Earlier this week, PA President Mahmoud Abbas reminded the Israeli occupation about the state of silence in the PA territories over the Israeli crimes against the in Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza.

“You [Israeli occupation] have to be reminded that no one bullet has been fired in the PA territories during the summer’s war on Gaza,” he said.
The PA security official reiterated that the Palestinian security services do not want more protests in the West Bank. “No more protests needed here,” he said.
