Day of Palestine, Reports –Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu ordered on Monday building 1,060 news settlement units in occupied Jerusalem.
The new settlements ordered by Netanyahu are to be built in the illegal Israeli settlement of Har Homa in the southeast of Jerusalem and Ramat Shlomo in the northeast of the city.
Conformed Israeli sources, reported sources from Netanyahu’s office, said that 400 settlement units to be built in Har Homa and 660 to be built in Ramat Shlomo.
On Sunday night, the Israeli TV Channel Two revealed an agreement between Netanyahu and the Israeli Economic Minister Naftali Bennett that included the approval of a new settlement project in the occupied West Bank.
The project includes 2,000 new settlement units, 12 new roads, parks, student villages and renovation works in Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Al-Khalil.
“This project was an initiative by Netanyahu to guarantee the support of the Israeli right wing for the current government,” Channel Two reported.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said that Netanyahu’s instruction came under pressure from the Council of Jewish Communities in the occupied West Bank and the Jewish Home party [headed by Bennett], which threatened to destabilize the coalition.
