Sources in the neighbourhood said that the amount of land specified in the appropriation orders is around 2,000 dunams.
Owners of the lands were surprised with this appropriation measure, which followed an appropriation 4,000 dunams (1,000 acre) announced on last Sunday; the largest land appropriation in decades.
Ratib al-Jabour, coordinator of anti-settlement and apartheid wall in the south of Al-Khalil, said: “The appropriation includes the land lies between the landfill of the city and the illegal Israeli settlement compound.”
He added: “It is the largest land appropriation carried out by the Israeli occupation in this area.”
Al-Jabour said that the land is owned by a number of Palestinians families. All the area of this land, Al-Jabour said, is planted with olive and almonds trees, in addition to winter crops.
