DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to a new report that points to a widening gap between declared commitments and the reality on the ground, while humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate.
A report issued by Gaza’s Government Media Office documented 3,269 violations of the ceasefire agreement during the 245 days since the truce came into effect. According to the report, the violations have resulted in the killing of 992 Palestinians and the injury of 3,138 others due to continued Israeli attacks. The report also recorded the arrest of 95 Palestinians during the period in which the agreement has been in force.
On the humanitarian front, the report highlighted severe restrictions on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip. It stated that only 52,740 aid trucks have entered the territory out of the 147,000 trucks that were expected to arrive by this point, representing a compliance rate of just 36 percent. The figures reflect the continued limitations on humanitarian assistance despite growing needs across the enclave.
The report also pointed to restrictions on travel through the Rafah border crossing. According to the data, Israeli authorities allowed only 6,845 travelers to leave Gaza out of 19,600 people who were expected to be permitted to cross, amounting to a compliance rate of 35 percent. The restrictions have limited the ability of patients and humanitarian cases to access medical treatment or leave the territory.
The findings, the report said, reflect a continuing pattern of violations that undermine the effectiveness of the ceasefire agreement and hinder efforts to improve conditions in Gaza.
Palestinian factions called on mediators and the parties sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to take urgent action to compel Israel to implement all provisions of the deal and halt ongoing violations. They also held Israel fully responsible for the continued deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
