More than half of the Palestinian prisoners inside the “Ofer” Israeli occupation prison are infected with Covid-19, said on Thursday the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club; They warned of the increasing of the virus spread among the prisoners.

The Prisoner Club said in a press statement that the virus is spreading in all departments and the Israeli occupation prisons administration worked to turn the epidemic into a tool of abuse.

“The Israeli occupation used Coronavirus to deprive the prisoners of their rights under the pretext of the spread of the epidemic, in addition to the lack of the necessary preventive measures,” the Club stressed.

They pointed out that the policy of the Israeli occupation prisons administration in withholding information related to prisoners, in addition to the failure to conduct tests for contacts, has led to the inability of any human rights or official body to count the number of people infected with the virus since its spread in prisons.

The occupation prisons administration limits the procedures related to the epidemic to the policy of prevention; It turned into a tool of punishment and deprivation and contributed to the doubling of the isolation of the prisoners who now face the jailer and the virus, without any alternative to alleviate their suffering.
