The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Saturday, February 5, 2023 the unjust, comprehensive siege the Israeli occupation has been imposing on the city of Jericho for the eighth day in a row.
The Ministry considered the siege imposed on Jericho as a form of collective punishment against all unarmed Palestinian civilians who spend long hours at the occupation checkpoints during their movement, travel or return to the homeland, not only in Jericho, but along other occupied West Bank cities .
It’s noteworthy that the city of Jericho is a gateway to Palestine, as all Palestinian citizens from all governorates move to and from it, including children, women, the elderly, and the sick. This siege in turn leads to hitting the economy of Palestine and puts obstacles in front of the citizens to pursue their work and their industrial, agricultural, tourism and other projects.
It indicated that this siege is as a flagrant violation of the international law, international humanitarian law and the globally-accepted and signed agreements.
As a result, the Foreign Ministry called for an urgent international and American intervention to lift this unjust siege on the city of Jericho, pressuring the Israeli government to stop it immediately.
