DaysofPal- The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks has risen to 2,124 people, with 6,921 others injured since March 2, following continued strikes across multiple areas of the country.
Recent Israeli air raids resulted in additional victims, including four people killed in the town of Sahmar in the Bekaa region. The strikes also caused widespread destruction to buildings and infrastructure.
The attacks extended to the cities of Tyre and Nabatieh, along with dozens of towns across southern Lebanon, including Tayr Falsay, Ain Baal, Deir Kifa, Kfar Remman, Beit Yahoun, Qlawiyeh, Al-Shahabiya, Siddiqine, and Abba, in addition to other areas in the south and the Bekaa.
Israeli forces also continued aerial and artillery bombardment targeting several towns, including Srifa, Al-Rayhan, Shebaa, Jbaa, Blida, Jouaiya, and Qabrikha, as well as Mashghara and Sahmar in the east.
Alongside the military escalation, Israeli forces intensified operations involving bulldozing, demolitions, and explosions of homes in southern villages. The town of Mays al-Jabal, with its multiple neighborhoods, bore the brunt of these actions, reflecting a sustained escalation on the ground.
On the diplomatic front, efforts have entered a new phase under increasing urgency. Delegations from Lebanon and Israel held a meeting in Washington on Tuesday that lasted approximately two and a half hours to discuss the possibility of reaching a truce and a ceasefire.
Following the preliminary meeting in Washington, which brought together senior-level delegations from both sides for the first time since 1993, an agreement was reached to hold direct negotiations between Beirut and Tel Aviv. The timing and location of these talks are expected to be determined at a later stage.
