The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) called Tuesday morning, December 13, 2022, on the international community to take immediate action to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation.
The center said in a statement, “A Palestinian girl was killed, and three citizens, including two brothers, were detained during the Israeli occupation forces’ raid, yesterday evening, of the eastern neighborhood of Jenin, which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.”
According to PCHR’s investigations, at approximately 10:11 on Sunday, 11 December 2022, a special Israeli force (from the Yamam unit) raided the eastern neighborhood in Jenin and stationed in the vicinity of Al-Absi’s house and a supermarket owned by the Al-Absi family. Hatnawi before raiding it.
The moment the occupation special forces were immediately discovered by Palestinian citizens, which led to violent confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters.
Subsequently, several Israeli military vehicles moved in to support the special units, and some of their military personnel climbed the roofs of a number of high buildings and turned them into positions for snipers, who were firing at Palestinians inside their homes.
After about an hour, the Israeli forces withdrew after detaining three citizens, including two brothers from the Hanthawi family who were inside the supermarket that had been raided.
About half an hour after the occupation forces withdrew, the 15-year-old girl, Jana Majdi Issam Assaf Zakarneh, was found dead and covered in blood on the roof of her family’s one-story house.

It turned out that she had been hit with a live bullet in the head, fired by one of the snipers of the occupation forces, who were stationed in a number of residential buildings, including a building under construction consisting of seven floors, located opposite the house of the Zakarneh family.
The child Zakarneh was taken to Dr. Khalil Suleiman Hospital in Jenin, and the medical staff confirmed that she succumbed to her serious wounds from a bullet in the head.

The center’s researcher reported that the child Jana was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at An-Najah National University in Nablus, and after the autopsy, it was found, according to what the medical staff told the researcher, that the shooting was carried out with an M16 weapon, from a distance of no less than 300 meters.
It turned out that the child was hit by five penetrating bullets, four of which hit her shoulders and the neck, and the fifth penetrated her head from the right side and exited from the left side.
Some fragments remained in the head, which indicates that the bullets used were explosive, which is a type used by the occupation forces.
The Center renewed its call on the international community to take immediate action to stop the crimes of the occupation and to protect Palestinian civilians.
It urged the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to fulfill their obligations contained in Article 1 of the Convention, by which they undertake to respect and abide by the Convention in all circumstances, as well as their obligations under Article 146 of the Convention to prosecute those accused of committing grave breaches of the Convention.
