Palestinian detainee Khader Adnan entered on Sunday, April 23, 2023, his 78th day of hunger strike in protest of his administrative detention in Israeli prisons.
Prisoner Khader Adnan, 44, languishes in the Ramleh prison clinic center under inhumane and harsh conditions. He was transferred to the clinic following the deterioration of his health conditions.
Earlier on Sunday, an Israeli occupation court rejected an appeal by Khader Adnan’s lawyer, demanding his freedom.
Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, Adnan’s wife Randa stated that he faces imminent death in Israeli prisons because he suffers from severe dizziness and general weakness. She also added that Adnan had fainted several times.
“My husband is dying and the Israeli prison administration refuses to transfer him to a civilian hospital,” Randa said during a press conference in Ramallah.
Despite his serious health conditions, Israeli occupation authorities have not responded yet to Adnan’s demands for freedom.
Furthermore, Israeli occupation forces repeatedly assaulted Adnan in an attempt to force him to suspend his hunger strike.
On February 5, 2023, Israeli occupation forces IOF kidnapped Khader Adnan after invading his home in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society PPS said.
IOF arrested Khader Adnan at least 12 times. Therefore, he spent a total of eight years in Israeli prisons. He stayed under administrative detention during most of his arrests.
Prisoner Khader Adnan had gone through a hunger strike five times in Israeli prisons, including four strikes against administrative detention.
Israeli occupation authorities currently detain some 4780 Palestinians in prisons, including 160 children and 30 women under harsh conditions.
