The Journalists Support Committee (JSC) said Sunday 26 June 2022 that the Israeli occupation used all kinds of internationally prohibited weapons against media freedoms in the Palestinian territories, the most recent of which is the assassination of the journalists Sherine Abu Aqleh and Ghufran Warasna, as well as the detention of 16 journalists.
In its report, the JSC added that since the beginning of 2022, the Israeli occupation committed 405 violations against media workers, in addition to 79 violations against Palestinian content.
The number of attacks, targeting, and injuries against Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation forces and its settlers reached 134 cases.
The committee expressed its concern over the continued Israeli occupation targeting and killing Palestinian journalists. It called on the United Nations and the International Federation of Journalists to take an urgent decision to send a fact-finding committee to the Palestinian territories, to reveal the crimes of the occupation, and to stop the systematic Israeli violations against journalists and media freedoms in Palestine.
