Israeli settlers have forcefully taken control of the residence belonging to the Sab Laban family, situated in the Old City of Jerusalem and overlooking Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli occupation forces IOF provided protection for settlers to take over the home, depriving the Palestinian family of their home that has been in their possession for over 70 years.
This distressing development adds to the long history of attempts by Israeli settlers to displace the Sab Laban family from their property since the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem in 1967.
In a deeply controversial move, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled in 2021 in favor of the settlers, ordering the eviction of the family and the transfer of the property to them.
The Sab Laban is one among several Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah facing the threat of eviction, igniting local and international support for their struggle against forced displacement in East Jerusalem.
Despite the family’s relentless efforts to protect their home, the settlers ultimately succeeded in seizing the property, triggering widespread protests denouncing the injustice and condemning the settlers as thieves.
