Japan voiced its concern Thursday, June 22, 2023, over the Israeli occupation’s plans to build over 4,000 settlement units in the occupied West Bank.
Hikariko Ono, the spokesperson for the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a press release, “Settlement activities violate international law.”
She further emphasized that Japan has repeatedly urged the Israeli occupation to completely freeze such actions.
Japan also expressed grave concern about the amendments introduced by the Israeli occupation to the settlement approval procedures, which would accelerate the process of settlement construction and expansion.
The statement highlighted that this move “clearly contradicts the international community’s efforts to achieve stability and create a political horizon towards a two-state solution.”
