Israeli suppression forces raided Ramon Prison on Sunday morning, October 1, 2023, transferring detainees from one section, and shutting down four others.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club released a statement reporting that the Israeli suppression forces had penetrated Section “5” of Ramon Prison. All detainees held in this section were forcibly transferred to Nafha Prison.
Sections Closed
In addition, the administration of Ramon Prison made a decision to close several sections, including 2, 3, 7, and 8. This abrupt action sent shockwaves through the detainee quarters, exacerbating the already tense situation.
Reacting to this troubling development, the Wa’ed Association for Prisoners expressed serious concern. They characterized the ongoing infiltration and suppression operations in detainee sections as “Israeli terrorism and extremism.” Moreover, they warned that these actions could trigger a new phase of confrontation.

Defiance and Determination
Despite the mounting pressure, Wa’ed emphasized that the Palestinian prisoner movement would not be deterred.
They asserted that detainees have a range of legitimate options and means at their disposal to defend their dignity. These actions are seen as necessary to counteract the marginalization and oppression experienced within the prison system.
International Intervention Urged
Wa’ed called upon international institutions to step in and fulfill their role in protecting the prisoners from the brutality of the Israeli occupation forces.
These forces, they argued, have repeatedly demonstrated a disregard for the most basic human values and international laws in their treatment of detainees.
This incident comes on the heels of another disturbing event that took place the previous Friday when suppression forces stormed Ramon Prison.
During this operation, extensive searches were conducted in various detainee rooms. Several prisoners were transferred to isolation for interrogation, and others were moved to solitary confinement units.
Role of Suppression Units
The suppression units responsible for these actions are under the Israeli prison administration and include Dror, Al-Yamaz, Al-Metsada, Nachshon, and Al-Yamam units.”
These units are tasked with infiltrating detainee quarters, executing intimidation and suppression operations, causing destruction, and dealing with detainees in a brutal manner.
