At least 17 people were killed when two Israeli strikes targeted a school in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood, which had been converted into a shelter for displaced Palestinians. The school, located in a western Gaza neighbourhood, was partially destroyed when the Israeli military dropped a bomb.
The attack did not end there. As rescuers and volunteers were working tirelessly inside the facility to help people from under the rubble, at least three more bombs were dropped on the school. The subsequent bombings resulted in the complete destruction of the facility. The exact number of casualties from this attack is still unknown.
This Israeli attack is not an isolated one. It reflects a tactic that the Israeli occupation military has widely used in the past. The Israeli occupation military first drops a bomb that partially destroys facilities, particularly evacuation centres, killing a number of people. Then, within a few minutes, it drops additional bombs.
