DaysofPal- In a dramatic escalation of the conflict in Gaza, Israeli forces have stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, forcibly evacuating approximately 350 people, including patients and medical staff.
The assault came in the wake of a devastating airstrike that killed nearly 50 Palestinians in a building opposite the hospital.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, the hospital’s director, reported that an Israeli airstrike on Thursday targeted a building across from the hospital in the Beit Lahia area, resulting in the deaths of about 50 people, including three medical staff members.
Among the martyrs were Dr. Ahmed Samour, a pediatrician, Israa, a laboratory technician, and Fares, a maintenance technician.
The situation at Kamal Adwan Hospital rapidly deteriorated as Israeli forces surrounded the facility and issued evacuation orders. Reports indicate that fires broke out in several departments, including the operating room, laboratory, and emergency areas.
The Israeli assaults have put the lives of approximately 75 patients at severe risk, many of whom are in critical condition and require specialized care.
Communication with the hospital has been severed, and ambulances dispatched to the scene have not returned, leaving the fate of many patients and staff uncertain. The forced evacuation has raised serious concerns about the well-being of those who were inside, especially given the limited options for safe relocation in the war-torn region.
This attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the last functioning medical facilities in northern Gaza, marks a significant escalation in the targeting of healthcare infrastructure.
The latest figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry reveal a grim escalation in the ongoing conflict. In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli forces have killed 37 Palestinians and injured 98 others across the Gaza Strip. This recent surge in violence has pushed the death toll since October 7, 2023, to at least 45,436.
The devastating impact of Israel’s war on Gaza extends beyond fatalities, with at least 108,038 people reported injured since the conflict began. These numbers underscore the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region, with casualties continuing to mount at an alarming rate.
