DaysofPal – At least 23 people, including 12 medical workers, were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon since early Saturday, according to Lebanese officials, during the continuing Israeli military campaign that expanded earlier this month.
Lebanese media reported that four people were killed after an Israeli strike targeted an apartment in the Haret Saida area in southern Lebanon on Saturday morning.
Israeli fighter jets also struck a house in the town of Taybeh. No casualties had been reported from that attack by early morning.
The deadliest strike hit a medical facility in Burj Qalaouiye in the Nabatieh Governorate, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. The ministry said an Israeli air strike targeted a primary healthcare center in the town, killing 12 doctors, paramedics, and nurses.
Rescue teams continued searching the rubble for missing people, the ministry said, noting that the casualty figure could rise.
Another strike in the same governorate hit the Hayy al-Rahibat, killing seven people and injuring others, according to the official National News Agency.
The health ministry condemned the attack on the medical facility, describing it as a violation of international humanitarian law. Officials said it marked the second attack on medical personnel within hours, following an Israeli strike late Friday that targeted paramedics in the town of Souwaneh.
Israel has continued its military operations across Lebanon since early March. Lebanese authorities say the ongoing attacks have killed more than 773 people, including 103 children, and wounded at least 1,933 others, among them 326 children.
The escalation intensified on March 2 when Israel expanded its military campaign to Lebanon after launching, together with the United States, a large-scale assault on Iran on February 28. Hundreds of people, including Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, have died in the regional conflict.
