A group of Israeli settlers stormed Tuesday, July 11, 2023, accompanied by Israeli forces, the house of the “Sub Laban” family in Aqabat Al-Khalidiya in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, took control of it, and violently kidnapped members of the family.
Last Sunday, the deadline set by the Israeli occupation authorities to evacuate the “Sub Laban” family from their home expired.
Several years ago, Israeli settlers seized an upper part of the building and another part of it, as the house of the “Sub Laban” family remained in the middle of the building, surrounded by Israeli settlements all around.
The family rented the house in 1953 from the Kingdom of Jordan, and it was granted protected lease rights, but following the occupation of Jerusalem, it was placed under the management of the so-called “Custodian of Absentees’ Property”, claiming that its ownership belonged to the Jews.
In 2016, Israeli occupation courts prevented the sons of the Jerusalemite family “Sub Laban”: Raafat, Ahmed, his wife and children, and their sister, from living inside the house, which led to the dispersal of the family.
