Israeli settlers launched on Saturday, July 29, 2023, a violent attack on a Plaestinian farmer and his wife in the Tuqu’ wilderness, east of Bethlehem.
According to Hassan Breijia, director of the Bethlehem office of the Wall and Settlements Resistance Commission, a group of settlers from a newly established settlement outpost on Palestinian land in the Tuqu’ wilderness targeted 65-year-old Salim Abdulbaden and his wife for the second consecutive day.
The Israeli settlers attempted to set fire to Abdulbaden’s tent and harm his livestock.
However, with the assistance of fellow villagers who rushed to their aid, the couple managed to fend off the attack, preventing further damage and harm.
Breijia highlighted the presence of an ongoing settlement plan in the area, saying that Israeli occupation is complicit in supporting the settlers’ violent actions against Palestinian civilians.
The objective appears to be to force the Palestinians out of their lands and homes, contributing to the systematic displacement of the local population.
It is important to note that the attack on Salim Abdulbaden and his wife is not an isolated incident.
Such violent assaults have become distressingly common in areas where illegal settlement outposts have been established.
