A group of Israeli settlers invaded on Monday, August 21, 2023, the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through the Moroccan Gate, accompanied by a heavy presence of Israeli occupation forces.
According to the Islamic Waqf Department in occupied Jerusalem, dozens of settlers invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque, conducting provocative tours within its courtyards. They performed Talmudic rituals in the Bab al-Rahmah area on the eastern side of the mosque.
Israeli occupation forces have continued their strict restrictions on the entry of worshippers from Jerusalem and the occupied territories into Al-Aqsa Mosque. They meticulously check the identities of those entering and detain some Palestinians outside its external gates.
Palestinians have intensified their calls for constant presence and vigilance within the Al-Aqsa Mosque to thwart the colonization and Judaization schemes by the Israeli occupation and settlers, especially in anticipation of the upcoming Jewish holidays.
Today marks the 54th anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which has been subjected to violent attacks and ongoing Israeli violations.
On August 21, 1969, the Australian Jewish extremist, Michael Dennis Rohan, set the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on fire. The fire swept through the Mosque, damaging its facades, ceilings, carpets, rare decorations, furniture, and copies of the holy Quran.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque has always been subjected to a series of systematic Israeli violations, such as the temporal and spatial division schemes through the settlers’ daily incursions, let alone the increasing cases of deportation orders for Muslim worshippers from the Mosque for long periods, in desperate attempt to break their determination.
