A group of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian-registered cars near the town of Yabad, west of Jenin, on Tuesday evening, according to local and security sources.
The sources told WAFA, the official Palestinian news agency, that the settlers, backed by Israeli occupation forces, pelted stones and empty glass bottles at Palestinian cars driving near the military checkpoint of Dutan in the town of Yabad.
They also closed the main street connecting Tulkarem with Jenin and Yabad with surrounding villages and prevented the movement of Palestinian commuters.
No injuries were reported, but the attack caused panic and fear among the drivers and passengers.
The sources said that the Israeli occupation forces did not intervene to stop the Jewish settlers or protect the Palestinians, but rather provided them with cover and support.
The attack was the latest in a series of violent incidents by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, where more than 600,000 settlers live in illegal settlements built on Palestinian land.
