DaysofPal- An official in the Israeli Southern Command stated that the investigations by the Israeli army into the events of October 7, 2023, and the launch of Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa are light years away from the truth.
The official explained in his testimony before the civilian investigation committee that the motivation behind the investigations is a strategy of mutual protection.
He added, “I can say with certainty that the families of the female observers were not told the truth.”
Regarding the criticism directed at the air force, he stated, “It took the resistance fighters less than two minutes to reach the Nahal Oz base and begin the attack, leaving insufficient time for anyone at the Northern Division headquarters to call in the air force.”
He continued, “The investigations are light years away from the truth, and everything there is driven by a strategy of mutual protection.”
“When I serve on the investigation committee, I look for the names of those involved. One of them is a colonel, and Halevi was appointed head of the committee.
However, this colonel was supposed to receive a promotion from Herzi Halevi, so how can he investigate the performance of the commanders? There is a clear conflict of interest here,” he added.
“In another investigation, they chose not to question me. I asked why, and the answer left me speechless: I was told that we had to protect the general, and that if we had asked you questions, we would not have been able to protect him and the leadership,” he added.
“What hurts me most is the disintegration of families. They must be told the truth, and we are not doing that. It is much worse than I am stating.
Regarding the failure of the observers at the Gaza Strip border, I can say frankly that the families are not being told the truth.”
The official attempted to answer a question on the minds of nearly every settler: “Where was the air force?”
According to his testimony, the resistance fighters’ attack on the settlements and bases occurred within a matter of minutes, making it impossible to request air assistance in time.
He added, “We checked the time it took for the resistance fighters to get from the Shujaiya gate to the Nahal Oz base.
We need to understand the situation: When Hamas fighters break through the fence, it takes them between one minute and one minute and forty seconds to reach the base in Nahal Oz.”
The official noted that it takes another two and a half minutes to reach the square, and a few more minutes to get to Netivot.
“How can the air force be called in at such a time? Someone in the army must contact them,” he said.
.
He concluded, “There was not enough time for anyone in the command to react and call the air force immediately, as it took several seconds for them to be able to engage as well.”
