The Israeli occupation released on Monday, July 31, 2023, the 51-year-old Palestinian prisoner, Mohammed Zaghlool, from the village of Dura Al-Qara in the northeastern part of Ramallah.
Mohammed had been held in Israeli prisons since 2003. Throughout his 20-year imprisonment, he managed to earn two master’s degree.
He lost his father while in prison and the occupation denied him the opportunity to bid his father final farewell. Mohammed is married and a father to three daughters named Firuz, Aqsa, and Dana.
Palestinian prisoners face inhumane detention conditions in Israeli prisons, including solitary confinement, restricted family visits, and deliberate medical negligence.
The Israeli occupation currently holds up to 5,000 Palestinian detainees, including 33 women and 160 children, according to statistics by Addameer. Among them, 1132 are held under administrative detention.
