The Israeli occupation government on Thursday declared that it will increase the amount of Palestinian tax money it seizes to roughly $30 million.
Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli Finance Minister, posted on Twitter that he had authorized a two–fold reduction in the payments made by the Palestinian Authority to the families of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation.
For more than two years, the Israeli occupation has taken an estimated 50 million shekels (equivalent to $14.5 million) each month from Palestinian tax income.
The Israeli occupation claims that the funds are equal to the amount of money the Palestinian Authority gives out on a monthly basis to the family members of prisoners and those who have been killed by Israeli forces.
Smotrich noted that he had made the choice this month to increase the amount to $29 million, and also to add an extra $59,000.
Smotrich accused the Palestinian Authority of supplying money to “terrorists.”
