Days of Palestine – Ramallah
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continue to violate the Palestinian journalists’ rights in occupied Palestine.
Israeli violations against journalists included attacking journalists with live and metal bullets, firing tear gas, and beating and arresting journalists.
Israel attacks journalists aim to hide the truth and keep the daily Israeli crimes against defenseless Palestinian citizens untold.
Today morning, IOF shot dead Al Jazeera’s journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the occupied West Bank without any justifications, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported.
Shireen was deliberately hit by a live bullet while covering Israeli occupation raids in the city of Jenin and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, then she was declared dead at the hospital.
VERY graphic.
I have a duty to support journalists reporting live on the ground who are brutally murdered by the monstrous Zionist occupation.

Another Palestinian journalist was also shot by a live bullet in the back, the health ministry said. Ali Samoudi, who works for the Jerusalem-based Quds newspaper was reported in stable condition.
Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Ramallah, Walid al-Omary, said that there had been no shooting carried out by Palestinian gunmen, disputing an Israeli statement that referenced the possibility.
“Israeli occupation forces assassinated our beloved journalist Shireen Abu Akleh while covering their brutality in Jenin this morning. Shireen was most prominent Palestinian journalist and a close friend,” wrote Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Kingdom.

A total of 384 Israeli violations against journalists working in the occupied Palestinian Lands were registered in 2021 by watchdogs. They urged international human rights institutions and press unions to condemn these crimes by organizing international campaigns to support Palestinian journalists in the face of the daily Israeli violations against them.
On June 5, 2021, Israeli occupation forces detained Al-Jazeera reporter Givara Budeiri in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah while she was covering a protest marking the 54th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and Israeli authorities’ ongoing attempts to force Palestinian residents out of the neighborhood.
The Israeli occupation authorities impose illegal and unjustified restrictions on the work of Palestinian journalists to punish them for their journalistic work in contravention of Israel’s obligation as the occupying power.
Israeli occupation commits a high number of acts of violence against journalists and other media professionals. It has become increasingly clear recently that Palestinian journalists are more and more at risk of being directly targeted, in violation of international humanitarian law.
Journalists are protected under international humanitarian law against direct attacks unless and for such time as they take a direct part in hostilities. Violations of this rule constitute a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocol I.
