The Israeli military court in Ofer renewed on Sunday, July 30, 2023, the administrative detention of a Palestinian prisoner from Al-Zawiya village, south of Jenin, for the second time.
The Director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club in Jenin, Montaser Samour, said that the Israeli court extended the administrative detention for another six months for the prisoner, Qusai Mohammed Ra’iq Abu Al-Wafa, who has been detained since March 14 last year.
Administrative detention refers to the practice of detaining Palestinians without trial or formal charges.
This form of detention has been a subject of intense criticism from human rights organizations and international bodies due to its violation of fundamental human rights and international law.
