Days of Palestine – Ramallah

An Israeli occupation court in Beer Sheba extended Tuesday, August 16, 2022, the isolation of the Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Manasra, 20, despite his critical mental condition, according to attorney Khaled Zabarqa.

He said the court, at the request of the Israel Prison Services, decided to keep Manasra in isolation, starting from May 21 until November 21.

Zabarqa said the Prison Services holds full responsibility for Manasra’s mental and health condition by dismissing his situation and keeping him in isolation, which further contributes to the deterioration in his health.

Manasra was 13 years old when he was first arrested following a stabbing attack in Jerusalem. He was ill-treated during the early years of his detention to the point he was later diagnosed with schizophrenia.

A group of 36 psychologists has appealed to the Israeli occupation president to pardon Manasra due to his mental health.
