Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
Israeli occupation approved Tuesday a settlement plan at the expense of the Palestinian lands of the town Sur Baher, south of occupied East Jerusalem, in favor of the “Lower Canal” illegal settlement between the settlements of “Har Homa” and “Givat Hamatos”.
The plan, according to what was revealed by the Israeli “Peace Now” movement, calls for building 1,446 new settlement units in the “Lower Canal” settlement.
A researcher in the “Peace Now” movement, Givat Ofran, said in a tweet on her “Twitter” that the what so called the (governmental) Regional Planning and Building Committee met yesterday, Monday, and it was approved that the plan for settlement units in the Lower Canal (settlement) be submitted for objection.
Ofran stated that the committee postponed (indefinitely) its decision regarding a second settlement plan, which includes building 473 settlement units in the “Givat Hashaked” settlement on the lands of the town of Beit Safafa, south of the city.
“Peace Now” said that more than 230,000 settlers live in settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.
